There was a significant increase of transported slaves occurring from 1795 to 1804, with the highest number of total disembarked in 1802 (3,934 slaves). During this interval, at least 1,500 slaves were transported every year. This can be attributed to the planned abolition of transatlantic shipments from Denmark in 1803, thus plantation owners wanted to get as many laborers as they could before its implementation.
