DISCLAIMER: From the Royal Danish Library, we took their images of old newspapers, converted them to text files, and then used AI/machine learning to find interesting results. This entire pipeline is built by performing OCR and then using GPT and other technologies to extract useful information. The OCR does not provide the 100% accurate results and has some level of error in the form of typos, misspells, or missing information. Similarly, GPT has its own percentage of error due to its non-deterministic nature which impacts the quality of the insights as well.
The newspapers available that we scanned are:
The Saint Thomas Gazette (1809-1815)
The Saint Croix Gazette (1808-1813)
The Royal Saint Croix Gazette (1813-1815)
Each paper is approximately 5 pages long and is published twice a week. This gave us over 1,017 newspapers to sample from.
